„I have extraordinary, one in a million people – legs without tibias.
Please, help me, and I will be able to walk!”
Bartek was born on the 3rd of January 2012, in Cracow, Poland
without tibias in both of his legs (tibial hemimelia bilaterally). The most common treatment practice is to amputate both legs and have a child walk on a prosthesis till the end of his life...
An alternative to amputation was reconstructive and lengthening treatment in the US by Paley Insititute in West Palm Beach, Florida
Bartek has undergone several surgeries and two extremely painful, long treatments in 2013 and 2016. The outcome of those treatments has gone way beyond our expectations - Bartek now walks, runs, swims on his own legs!
There's still a long road ahead of us as Bartek will need physical therapy for several years at last. He will also need further lengthening surgeries.
We welcome you on our web page and kindly ask you to JOIN us in helping our son stand and walk on his own feet. We've been so much already but have still a lot ahead.
If your child's been born with hemimelia - please contact us!
Thank you!
